How To Root Sony Xperia Z

XperiaZ.jpgGreat news here to share to those who lately own the Sony Xperia Z C660X, root guide is now available for Sony Xperia Z C660X model which includes Xperia Z C6603 and C6602 models. The root method is applicable for only unlocked bootleader Sony Xperia Z. If you have not unlock bootloader, we have prepared a how-to guide for you before you continue to root Sony Xperia Z here. Compatibility

The tutorial and guide below is only compatible to Sony Xperia Z C660X (firmware 10.1.A.1.350) model. It will not compatible to other devices.

Requirements

  1. Windows-based PC
  2. Sony Xperia Z C660X with firmware version 10.1.A.1.350
  3. Download and install USB drivers on PC. Download Sony USB Driver for Windows.

  5. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Device.
  6. Backup your personal data on phone to PC to ensure you keep a copy of your personal data (SMS, MMS, Contacts, Internet Settings, Photos and etc). How to Backup Personal Data On Android Device.
  7. Make sure your phone is charged to 50% to avoid interruption during flashing. How to Check Battery Level On Android Device.

Instructions

  1. After complete the setup ADB & Fastboot driver procedures, copy adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll C:\\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools and fastboot.exe in C:\\android-sdk-windows\tools to C:\Android.
  2. Copy both downloaded ***.img files into C:\Android.
  3. Turn off your Sony devices and prepare enter fastboot mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up button for 15 seconds, at the same time plug in the micro USB cable which already connected with PC.
  5. You should see Blue Color LED light up.
  6. You are now in fastboot mode.
  7. Open a Command Prompt (Windows logo–>type CMD in search box and enter).
  8. Type in Command Prompt: cd c:\Android
  9. Type “fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_CF-Auto-Root-ported_FW-350.img” into the Command Prompt windows.
  10. Type “fastboot reboot” into the Command Prompt windows.
  11. The device will now start booting and u will get indication on screen saying (Device will reboot in 10 seconds)
  12. Enter fastboot mode again (Press and hold the Volume Up button for 15 seconds)
  13. Open a Command Prompt (Windows logo–>type CMD in search box and enter).
  14. Type in Command Prompt: cd c:\Android
  15. Type “fastboot flash boot Z_DooMLoRD_insecure_FW-350.img” into the Command Prompt windows.
  16. Type “fastboot reboot” into the Command Prompt windows.
  17. Download Busybox Installer from Market and install it at /system/xbin/
  18. You are now done and with the devices rooted. Enjoy!!
