Compatibility

The tutorial and guide below is only compatible to HTC One X model. It will not compatible to other devices.
Check phone model – Go to Settings -> About Device -> Model Number.

Requirements

  1. Windows-based PC
  2. HTC One X with hboot 1.39 or newer
  3. Download and install USB drivers on PC. Download HTC USB Driver for Windows
  4. Enable Developer Options on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. How To Enable Developer Options On Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (Optional – Only applicable for Android 4.2 and above)
  5. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Device.
  6. Backup your personal data on phone to PC to ensure you keep a copy of your personal data (SMS, MMS, Contacts, Internet Settings, Photos and etc). How to Backup Personal Data On Android Device.
  7. Make sure your phone is charged to 50% to avoid interruption during flashing. How to Check Battery Level On Android Device.

Instructions: (From Custom ROM)

  1. Make sure you have follow steps above and enable all the necessary features before start.
  2. Do a Nandroid backup in CWM/TWRP recovery in case you need for restoration. (Optional)
  3. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  4. Copy and paste the downloaded ***ROM***.zip files to your phone internal SD card.
  5. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
  6. Copy and paste the downloaded boot.img into a new folder located at desktop and renamed the folder to fastboot.
  7. Open Command Prompt in your computer (Windows Logo, type CMD in search box).
  8. In Command Prompt, type C:\fastboot
  9. On your device, enter into Fastboot mode by press and hold Power + Volume Down button.
  10. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  11. Once your device is detected, type fastboot flash boot boot.img in Command Prompt.
  12. Followed by typing fastboot erase cache in Command Prompt to avoid boot issue.
  13. Reboot your device into CWM/TWRP Recovery by press and hold thePower + Volume Up.
  14. In Recovery menu, you are always recommended to perform a full Wipe Data/Factory Reset to avoid crashing and ROM compatibility issue. You may skip this step if you upgrade from your previous ROM version. For CWM recovery, use Volume key to navigate in Recovery Mode. For TWRP, use touchscreen to navigate in Recovery Mode
  15. Do Wipe Cache Partition – Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  16. Go to advanced and do Wipe Dalvik Cache — Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  17. From the main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from internal sdcard, browse to folder location and select the ***ROM***.zip and click Yes to install.
  18. After the installation completes, go back to recovery’s main menu.
  19. Select reboot system now to reboot the phone.
  20. For first boot up, it normally takes longer time. Please wait patiently.

Instructions: (From Stock ROM)

  1. Root and install CWM/TWRP recovery. How to Root Guide
  2. Download root checker from Google Play to check your root status.
  3. Press Power + Volume Up to enter recovery mode. Check whether CWM/TWRP recovery is successfully installed.
  4. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  5. Copy and paste the downloaded ***ROM***.zip files to your phone internal SD card.
  6. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
  7. Copy and paste the downloaded boot.img into a new folder located at desktop and renamed the folder to fastboot.
