XperiaPremium V1 for Sony Xperia Z was built by CyanongenMod (CM10.1) source code with android 4.2.2 jelly bean. This is basically CM10.1 modified for a complete Sony experience. It promises of a faster and better performance on your Xperiz Z as compared to the stock firmware. It has included some of the exclusive features of Android 4.2 such as 4.2 JB gallery, 4.2 Gmail. Now, we have prepared tutorial to flash XperiaPremium V1 on your Sony Xperia Z.

Benefit of Rooting

1. Full Control of Android With root access, you can alter any system files (developer level), delete annoying pre-installed stock apps (come with carrier perhaps), change Samsung boot animation (or others brand) and much more. As you can tells, you can actually alter with full access to your phone via root.

Compatibility

The tutorial and guide below is only compatible to Sony Xperia Z model. It will not compatible to other devices.

Check phone model – Go to Settings -> About Device -> Model Number.

Requirements

  1. Windows-based PC
  2. Sony Xperia Z
  3. Download and install USB drivers on PC. Download Sony USB Driver for Windows.
  4. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Device.
  5. Backup your personal data on phone to PC to ensure you keep a copy of your personal data (SMS, MMS, Contacts, Internet Settings, Photos and etc). How to Backup Personal Data On Android Device.
  6. Make sure your phone is charged to 50% to avoid interruption during flashing. How to Check Battery Level On Android Device.

Download

Instructions: (From Custom ROM)

  1. Make sure you have follow steps above and enable all the necessary features before start.
  2. Do a Nandroid backup in CWM recovery in case you need for restoration. (Optional)
  3. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  4. Copy and paste the downloaded ***ROM***.zip and Gapps files to your phone internal SD card.
  5. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
  6. In computer, extract the downloaded ***ROM***.zip file and you shall get a boot.img within.
  7. Place boot.img into a folder located at desktop and renamed folder to fastboot.
  8. Open Command Prompt in your computer (Windows Logo, type CMD in search box).
  9. In Command Prompt, type C:\fastboot
  10. On your device, press and hold the Volume Up button for 15 seconds, at the same time plug in the micro USB cable which already connected with PC.
  11. You should see Blue Color LED light up.
  12. You are now in fastboot mode.
  13. Once your device is detected, type fastboot flash boot boot.img in Command Prompt.
  14. Type fastboot reboot to reboot your device
  15. When you see the Sony logo and the LED light turns pink/amber/orange keep tapping/pressing VOLUME UP key to enter CWM/TWRP Recovery, .
  16. In Recovery menu, you are always recommended to perform a full Wipe Data/Factory Reset to avoid crashing and ROM compatibility issue. You may skip this step if you upgrade from your previous ROM version. For CWM recovery, use Volume key to navigate in Recovery Mode.
  17. Do Wipe Cache Partition – Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  18. Go to advanced and do Wipe Dalvik Cache — Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  19. From the main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from internal sdcard, browse to folder location and select the ***ROM***.zip and click Yes to install.
  20. Back to main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from internal sdcard, browse to folder location and select the gapps-jb-20121212-signed.zip file and click Yes to install.
  21. After the installation completes, go back to recovery’s main menu.
  22. Repeat Step 6-8.
  23. Select reboot system now to reboot the phone.
  24. For first boot up, it normally takes longer time. Please wait patiently.

Instructions: (From Stock ROM)

  1. Root and install CWM recovery. How To Root Guide
  2. Download root checker from Google Play to check your root status.
  3. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  4. Copy and paste the downloaded ***ROM***.zip and Gapps files to your phone internal SD card.
  5. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
  6. In computer, extract the downloaded ***ROM***.zip file and you shall get a boot.img within.
