Update HTC Evo 4G CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean M2 Build Custom ROM

sprint-htc-evo-4g_thumb copyCyanongenMod has announced and released the latest CM build M2. The CM10.1 M2 build is based on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There were more devices listed out which compatible with M2 build, it includes Nexus S, Nexus 7, Nexus 4, HTC One X, LG Optimus LTE, Samsung Galaxy S, SII, SIII and Galaxy Note. Today we keep more models being covered with full installation tutorial. As usual, more nighties version will be pushing out daily to fix and improve the CM10.1 M2 build custom ROM. Compatibility

The tutorial and guide below is only compatible to Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE model. It will not compatible to other devices.
Check phone model – Goto Settings -> About Device -> Model Number.

Requirements

  1. Windows-based PC
  2. Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE
  3. Download and install USB drivers on PC. Download HTC USB Driver for Windows
  4. Enable USB Debugging on your device. How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on Android Device.
  5. Backup your personal data on phone to PC to ensure you keep a copy of your personal data (SMS, MMS, Contacts, Internet Settings, Photos and etc).How to Backup Personal Data On Android Device.
  6. Make sure your phone is charged to 50% to avoid interruption during flashing. How to Check Battery Level On Android Device.

  1. CM10.1 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean M2 Build for HTC Evo 4G (cm-10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-jewel-M2.zip, 182.37MB) – Development page

Instructions: (From Custom ROM)

  1. Make sure you have follow steps above and enable all the necessary features before start.
  2. Do a Nandroid backup in CWM/TWRP recovery in case you need for restoration. (Optional)
  3. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  4. Copy and paste the downloaded zip files to your phone’s internal SD card.
  5. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
  6. Press and hold the Power + Volume Down Button to enter CWM/TWRP Recovery.
  7. In Recovery menu, you are always recommended to perform a full Wipe Data/Factory Reset to avoid crashing and ROM compatibility issue. You may skip this step if you upgrade your previous ROM version. (Use Volume key to navigate in Recovery Mode)
  8. Do Wipe Cache Partition – Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  9. Go to advanced and do Wipe Dalvik Cache — Select from the menu and select Yes to confirm.
  10. From the main menu in Recovery, select the install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from internal sdcard, browse to folder location and select the downloaded zip and click Yes to install.
  11. After the installation completes, go back to recovery’s main menu.
  12. Select reboot system now to reboot the phone.
  13. For first boot up, it normally takes longer time. Please wait patiently.

Instructions: (From Stock ROM)

  3. Download root checker from Google Play to check your root status.
  4. Press Power + Volume Down button to enter recovery mode. Check whether CWM/TWRP recovery is successfully installed. Select Reboot system to reboot your device.
  5. Connect your device to the computer via micro USB cable.
  6. Copy and paste the downloaded zip files to your phone’s internal SD card.
  7. Turn off your phone and disconnect from USB cable.
